The skies at the beginning of creation
In the name of Allah the Gracious the Most Merciful
Did not the unbelievers see that the skies and the earth were a mend, so We ripped them apart and from water We made every living thing, will not they believe
021.031 And We have set on the earth anchors (mountains) lest it should shake with them, and We have made in it wide ways that they may be guided.
021.032 And We have made the sky a guarded roof, and (yet) they turn aside from its signs.
021.033 And He is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; each (or all) float in an orbit.
041.009 Say you are disbelieving in Him Who created the earth in two days, and set up equals with Him, that is the Lord of the Worlds.
041.010 And He made therein anchors (mountains) above it, and He blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for those who ask.
041.011 Then He proceeded to the sky while it was smoke, so He said to it and to the earth come both willingly or by obligation, they both said we come willingly.
041.012 Where He ordered them seven skies in two days and inspired in each sky its order and We bedecked and protected the lowest sky with lights, that is the planning of The Almighty and Knowledgeable.
067.001 Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things.
067.002 Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.
067.003 Who created seven layered skies you do not see any disproportion in the creation of the Merciful, then turn the sight, can you see any split.
067.004 Then turn your vision twice, the vision shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued.
067.005 And certainly We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps and We have made them missiles for the devils, and We have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.
002.028 How do you deny Allah and you were dead and He gave you life? Then He will cause you to die and then bring you to life, then you shall be brought back to Him.
002.029 He is Who created for you all that is in the earth, then turned to the heaven, so He made them seven heavens, and He knows all things.
The skies in the making
071.013 What for you do not fear Allah.
071.014 And He had created you in stages.
071.015 Have you not seen how Allah created seven layered skies.
071.016 And He made the moon therein a light and made the sun a lamp.
071.017 And Allah has grown you from the earth like plants.
071.018 Then He shall return you therein and bring you forth from it
065.012 Allah Who created seven heavens, and of the earth like them, He descends the commandment between them, that you may know that Allah is capable over all things, and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.
011.007 And He is Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and His Throne was on the water- that He may try you, which of you is best in deed, and if you say, you shall be raised up after death, those who disbelieved would certainly say: This is nothing but clear magic.
032.004 Allah Who created the skies and the earth and what in between them in six days, then He descended on the Throne, you have no Guardian or Intercessor other than Him, will you not remember.
032.005 He manages the order from the sky to the earth, then it ascends to Him in a day that is equal to one thousand years of your reckoning.
032.006 That is the Knowledgeable of the unseen and the seen, the Almighty the Compassionate.
032.007 Who has made everything He created most good, and began the creation of the human from clay.
032.008 Then made his progeny of an extract of despised water.
032.009 Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit, and made for you the hearing and the sights and the hearts, you rarely give thanks.
057.004 He is Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He mounted the Throne. He knows that which goes deep down into the earth and that which comes forth out of it, and that which comes down from the heaven and that which ascends up into it, and He is with you wherever you are; and Allah sees what you do.
The skies and the earth and whoever is in them
017.044 The seven heavens praise His glory and the earth, and those who are in them; and there is not a single thing but glorifies with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification; surely He is Forbearing, Forgiving.
017.055 And your Lord best knows those who are in the heavens and the earth; and We have favored some of the prophets over others, and to David We gave the Psalms.
022.018 Did you not see that Allah is He, to Whom bow down in worship, whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth, and the sun and the moon and the stars, and the mountains and the trees, and the animals and many of the people; and many there are against whom chastisement has become necessary; and whomsoever Allah abases, there is none who can make him honorable; surely Allah does what He pleases.
023.086 Say who is the Lord of the seven skies and the Lord of the Great Throne
002.036 But the devil maade them both fall from it, and caused them to depart from the state in which they have been, and We said: Get down, some of you the enemies of others, and there is for you in the earth an abode and a provision for a time.
055.033 O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you can pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority.
072.008 And that we touched heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and meteors.
072.009 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof for listening, but he who would listen now would find a meteor lying in wait for him.
The skies description
040.057 Certainly the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of the people, but most people do not know.
079.027 Are you the harder to create or the heaven? He built it.
079.028 He raised high its height, then put it into a right order.
079.029 And He made dark its night and brought out its light.
051.022 And in the heaven is your providence and that which you are promised.
091.005 And by the heaven and Who built it,
051.047 And the sky We built with might and We shall be expanding.
023.017 And certainly We made above you seven paths, and never are We unmindful of creation.
078.012 And We built above you seven strong ones.
050.006 Did they not then look up to the sky above them how We have built it and adorned it and it has no gaps?
035.041 Surely Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they cease, and if they should fail, there is none who can uphold them after Him; surely He is the Forbearing, the Forgiving.
034.009 Did they not see what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and the earth? If We please We will cause the earth to crack with them or bring down upon them pieces from the heaven; there is a sign therein for every servant turning (to Allah).
055.007 And the heaven, He raised it, and He set up the balance.
088.018 And at the Sky, how it is raised?
051.007 By the Sky with the knitting (or weaving).
085.001 By the heaven, with the Zodiacal signs.
015.016 And certainly We have made zodiacal signs in the heaven and We have adorned it to the beholders.
086.001 By the Sky and the knocker
086.002 And what do you know what the knocker is?
086.003 The piercing Star.
086.011 By the sky which returns.
013.002 Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you see then mounted the Throne, and subjected the sun and the moon each running for a term appointed, regulating the affair making clear the signs, that you may be certain of meeting your Lord.
031.010 He created the heavens without any pillars that you can see, and cast into the earth anchors (mountains) lest it quakes with you, and He has dispersed therein all kinds of beasts, And We sent down water from the sky then grew therein of every noble kind.
104.008 It shall be closed over upon them.
104.009 In extended columns.
051.047 And the sky We built with might and We shall be expanding.
The skies behind this creation
015.014 And had We opened unto them a door from the sky and they were to continue to ascend through it.
015.043 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all.
015.044 It has seven gates for every gate there shall be a separate party of them.
078.018 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts.
078.019 And the heaven shall be opened becoming doors.
017.001 Glory be to Him Who made His servant go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to Al Aqsa mosque whose precincts We did bless, in order to show him of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
070.003 From Allah to Whom the channels of ascent belong.
070.004 The angels and the spirit ascend to Him in a day that was equal to fifty thousand years.
The skies a different creation
077.008 Then when the stars are put out.
077.009 And when the heaven is rent asunder.
081.011 And when the heaven is scraped.
070.008 The day when the sky will be as molten copper.
055.037 When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes a rose like oil.
069.016 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be frail.
069.017 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will uphold the Throne of Your Lord that day, above them.
025.025 And on the day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with the clouds, and the angels shall be sent down, descending.
025.026 The dominion on that day, the true, shall belong to the Merciful Allah, and a hard day shall it be for the unbelievers.
039.067 No just estimate have they made of Allah such as is due to Him, and all the earth in his fist on the day of resurrection and the skies folded within his right Praised and Exalted He is above which they join to Him.
039.068 And the trumpet shall be blown stunning those who are in the skies and in the earth save whom Allah wishes then it shall be blown again where they shall be up, looking.
021.104 The day We shall fold the sky as a record to the books as We began the first creation repeat it, a promise We took upon Ourselves that We shall fulfill.
014.048 On the day when the earth shall be changed into a different earth, and the heavens, and they shall come forth before Allah, the One, the Supreme.
019.093 There is none in the heavens and the earth but will come to the Beneficent as a servant.
019.094 He has calculated them and has counted them counting.
019.095 And every one of them will come to Him on the day of resurrection individual.
039.074 And they shall say: praise is due to Allah, Who fulfilled to us His promise, and He has made us inherit the earth; sojourning from the heaven where we may; so goodly is the reward of the workers.
003.133 And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is that of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous.
011.107 Abiding therein so long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord please; surely your Lord is the mighty doer of what He intends.
The skies as the origin of creatures
006.038 And there is no earth walking creature or a flying bird that are not but nations like you we have wasted nothing in the book then to their Lord they shall be gathered.

The sky was mentioned in the Holy Quran, between sky and skies, three hundred and ten times. I choosing the above verses, I have taken them from their chapters and away from the verses that precede and follow them and complete their meaning. This study may highlight the subject of the skies, but the skies are linked to the earth, the water and creature’s souls. The earth in single tense relates to the planet Earth. In plural tense, Earth also (same in the Arabic language), relates to the matter that makes up the visible lowest heaven, that is the material world that contains the planets, stars and galaxies.
