Letters to Hamad Hospital
How the Doctor’s cheating was exposed after five years of suffering for my son that are still going and will follow him for the rest of his life, because of the criminals running Hamad Hospital, and for their protection under their rotten administration to the criminals, and their insisting to commit more crimes. While a doctor tells me that there is no use of legal pursuit because there are thousands of cases against Hamad Hospital and that a case in a thousand passes because there is an army of fierce lawyers and judges who are recruited to defend the hospital. And a lawyer tells me that the cases against Hamad Hospital are rising and no one knows why they are not doing anything about it. And a Qatari employee for years at the hospital tells me that the hospital is well equipped but the unqualified doctors are committing unheard of crimes. And a Qatari Sheikh tells me, may God guide you what took you to Hamad Hospital, have not you heard about it? This goes on under the management of the likes of Saad Al Kaabi, who established mafias that belong to him in the hospital, after he got rid of some of the best doctors, to protect the likes of Sivam and hide my complaint letters. And Hanan Al Kawari, whom I was told by her secretary two months after my complaint was referred to her from the health committee, and after more than a year from my first complaint letter to their administration, that she received nothing. She refused to meet with me and her secretary threatened me of getting hurt for exposing the reputation of the corporation and the country to danger. While their buildings rise and their trade establishments get managed by international companies under the supervision of American mafias.
Part of my letters to the Hamad Hospital’s management and the National Health Committee that returned my complaints to the hospital after one week and told me two months later that they have no authority over the hospital
My son’s dental treatment was started in 2002, at Sivam’s private evening clinic at Rumaila Dental Hospital. He fit an expander to fix the cross bite at the cost of 4000 riyals, recommended to extract four molars when they come out, because my son’s canines were overlapping the front teeth, and we were told to come back afterwards to start the braces, which he said will take between two to two and half years at the cost of 16000. Sivam did not inform us that our son has a case called class three, that requires special treatment to work on expanding the jaw, not just usual braces work. The braces were started in 2003 and ended in 2007.
In 2005 I asked Sivam to take an x-ray, he said at the end of the treatment. I complained that the treatment is taking longer than expected and showed my concern about the facial changes and bite, which was masked partly by his teenage years and weight gain. Sivam replied with arrogance, mom it is his nose you should worry about, he is breathing through his mouth. He gave us a referral to an Indian ENT doctor of his friends at Hamad Hospital, who prescribed strong nose drops until we do an operation to his nose when he is eighteen. I still worried that something was wrong, but Sivam insisted that the rest is my son’s job, if he persists in using the elastics, the teeth will fit together and the work will finish. My son went back in many urgent visits after that, because the more he tried with the elastics the more the braces hooks popped out. I tried to convince my son to go for a consultation, but he had trusted his dentist after all these years. And dad did not help much with his comment that they will sure find some faults to make you switch to their clinic. I checked the payments receipts and found that Sivam was still charging us for the visits even though the amount was paid a while ago, I suspected that he was delaying the treatment for that reason. When I told him on my next visit that the balance was closed and there are extra payments, he referred me to his assistant. I felt obvious crockery and insisting to charge us extra. I complained to Dr. Khairalla, and there was a meeting with Sivam for that. Did Sivam revenge from my son because of that? Or he did not know how to fix his mistake in the treatment which was started wrong by four extractions without an early attempt to expand the jaw, and without consideration that nature left alone would have done a much better job.
After 2005 I fell in a series of disasters because of some Hamad Hospitals criminals at the evening private clinics, and I left my son to accompany his dad to the dental clinic visits. My son who suffered of other troubles after 2005 because of that, the swelling and pressure at the sides of his neck, along with the hiatal hernia and the breathing problems during sleep. Add to that his denial to a seat in the Math class by three criminal racist bullies at Doha college, despite his long record of straight A’s, which caused him to have to repeat the 2006 school year, after a long record of straight A’s in all his subjects. Despite all what he passed through, his outstanding nature and free spirit helped him to graduate with high grades and to make up for two years in one year. Can my son be blamed for not wanting to come back to the Arab World??? It is him mom who is to be blamed for bringing him from Canada to the Arab world to grow up among the Muslims!!!
After three consultations in Canada my son will have to go for two operations, one major operation to expand his upper jaw, after few months because the doctors decided to remove the appliances, treat his gum and watch the relapse before the operation, and the other for his nose that was affected by the lousy dental work. My son would complete then ten years of orthodontic treatment because of a senior orthodontic consultant at Rumaila Stable in Qatar.

The last appointment with Sivam,
For more than a year, the braces were waiting for one tooth to move to be removed.
When I was away visiting my other son in Dubai after he had a car accident, Sivam fit the retainers, showed my son how to put them on, and how often for the next nine months, then he showed him and his dad the x-rays, and showed his content with the evident progress since the first x-ray in 2002. We are finished, if the retainers break, bring them here.
The details of what happened next
I had asked my son to ask for the x-rays before I left to Dubai, in case doctor Sivam decides to finish the job soon. When I came back from Dubai I knew that Sivam had called the house, asked to talk to my son and told him that he cannot give him the x-rays because he is no longer his patient. And that he told them that he sent the request form.
I went to the doctor Khairalla’s office, told Hilda the secretary I want my son’s x-rays. She said you apply at Hamad Hospital, and get them from there.
I went to Hamad Hospital film archives; they said dental x-rays are at the dental hospital.
I went back to the Dental hospital, the secretary said, Ah yes the doctor has to send the request.
I said he told my son that the request was denied.
She said right because x-rays are hospital property!
Really, I know people who took them.
Right some American family did recently, but the doctor has to specify the reason on the request.
We went two days later to Sivam’s clinic; he explained to dad that the request was denied because he ticked the reason “for insurance purposes”. They wanted to know which insurance company.
He then said ok, I will give them to you, but keep it between us because it is against hospital rules.
I opened them at home and knew the 2005 x-ray is not my son’s.
I was planning to go for a consultation earlier, I sensed there is something, but I am not a dentist.
I had also asked him why he keeps using the same size arc, does not he need to use a bigger size with time? He replied No, the upper jaw does not grow with time. When he had it with my questions, he asked openly to send dad instead.
After my son’s complaint we went to three consultation appointments with the visiting consultants, because the resident consultants are rare in the country. We learned that the suspected braces problem turned to be a disaster, advised by Dr. Tavas to do the serious operation in Canada, and that the 2005 x-ray is not my son’s.
10/5/2007
I called Hamad Hospital complaints, said that I have a third complaint, after the one for myself in February and my son’s hiatal hernia. But this time I am not bringing it to them; I will take all three complaints to a higher authority. I asked if there is a health ministry, they said there is a health committee run by Dr. Galia Al Thani. I was advised to talk to Salam Nassar at Rumaila complaints. When I called she advised me to hand the complaint soon, because it would take at least 2 weeks for a reply.
17/5/2007
I called the complaints office. I was called three days later for a meeting with Dr. Nasir Al Ansari.
21/5/2007
I was accompanied by two ladies from the complaints office to the meeting with Dr. Al Ansari, I told him I have two complaints for my son. I handed one of the letters a while ago, concerning the 8 months with 12 visits to evening clinics until the endoscopy was approved, and we found out that my son has a hiatal hernia, and the recent one is regarding a major jaw surgery, because of bad braces job. He said he will check the endoscopy matter, and will refer me to Dental hospital for the second complaint. He recommended I see Dr. Khaled Alhamadani at the Rrumaila hospital. He asked the ladies if any of the doctors wrote back in reply to their inquiries regarding my complaint, they said no.
24/5/2007
Two days ago Miss Salam from the complaints office at Rumaila, called and advised me to bring my complaint soon. She met me and led me to the manager’s office. Before she left she told me that they have received many complaints about Sivam’s arrogance but this is the first time they receive a serious complaint concerning medical treatment.
When I talked to Doctor. khairallah, I was under the impression that no other doctor will accept to take on a case after Dr. Sivam has worked on for five years. And that it is useless to ask Dr. Sivam to finish or correct the job, after I had complained against him, “How do you expect him to treat your son right after you complained against him!” I reminded Dr. Khairallah that I handed him a complaint about the extra bills Dr. Sivam charged us two years ago, and that I should have guessed that who cheats with money can cheat in other ways. I told him about the forged x-ray. He asked who gave them to me, they were hospital property! (Hospital rules! All heard in the manager’s secretary office: You can apply and pay 50 and get the x-rays, then no, the doctor applies, then no they belong to the hospital, then yes some American people got them before they left. Then you have the big list of patients’ bill of rights, that all his tests and reports are his! Some tailored rules.) I said Sivam gave them. Doctor Khairallah objected to the fact that the reports about the problem are from outsiders,”They will sure say something negative”. I assured him that expecting to hear this; I came to him after getting three similar reports, one of them by an Orthodontist from Rumailah Hospital.
He explained and explained and explained different kinds of dental problems, but when I said should I bring my son to you? He said he is a managing director not a dentist!
He offered to send my son to plastic surgery! Assuring me that my son is not the first case to need surgery! Is that where their mistakes get fixed? I assured him that he misunderstood my request for an evaluation by other doctors, and that if there is a chance that the mistake can be corrected, I will look for the best available Doctor in Doha, but if the surgery is a must then I will be sure not do it here, I will go to Canada. But I will try my best to prevent that outcome. And to make the decision, I demand a report from other consultants at the Hospital soon. He said that the hospital is under stress, and that HE HIMSELF, had to wait two months for treatment. He said that he will let the complaint take its legal course and will approve sending it to the management for investigation!
3/6/2007 We went to see Dr. Khalid Al Hamadani, who was recommended by Dr. Al Ansari.
He said it was not his specialty. He is a hands plastic surgeon, he asked Salam to call them and get them to attend the meeting (Khairallah and Sivam) they refused, he said he will approve that the complaint goes to the management. Salam mentioned few points from the report Sivam wrote: We did not follow instructions! We did not approve to pay for the third stage of treatment! And that we said we will continue the treatment out! On the way out from the meeting with Dr. Al Hamadani , I asked Mrs. Salam to help in getting an appointment with the person who can help with taking the right decision, operation or braces again.
5/6/ 2007
I went to the manager Saad Al Kaabi’s office, his secretary was busy on the phone defending the poor doctors of Hamad Hospital,
Yes?
I said I want to talk to Dr. Al Kaabi.
Regarding?
I said I am here to report a crime. The last of 3 cases for 2 persons in 1 family, this year.
She listened and took me to his office’s manager, Dr. Wisam Khalid.
Dr. Wisam asked what the manager at the dental hospital did with my complaint,
I said he took his share in the complaint I brought. I handed him the letter.
I was referred by Dr. Al Ansari to a plastic surgeon, who said he had nothing to do with the case and said that they should have attended the appointment.
He said Dr. Alhamadani is a plastic surgeon for hands and other, it is not his specialty. And said that these matters take time, the summer is starting and it will be 6 months until something will be done.
I said I have to take a big decision, operation in Canada, or braces again. I might move soon for that decision. He called and got me an appointment with the chief orthodontist surgeon at the dental hospital, Dr. Mustafa Al Khalil.
10/6/ 2007
The appointment with Dr. Mustafa Alkhalil at 11:30.
· No report or file? How do they expect me to see this case?
We need to find out if we have to go to Canada for operation or we can redo the braces work. We want your advice. Doctor Wissam Khaled referred us to you for a consultation.
· He said he is a plastic surgeon.
· Where is the file?
· Ah you are private clinic, that’s why the file is not here!
I said we have x-rays, molds and a report.
· He looked at the x-ray 2005, I said this one is not for him. He said it is, he does not have a class 3, class 1, and assured me there is not much that I can do with the x-rays! Asked how did I get them?
I said look at the one from 2002
· He said yes this does show class 3. I said Dr. Sivam will be in trouble if it is for my son, because in 2005 he was much better, his upper jaw was obviously much forward.
· He said but you cannot make much from the x-rays.
Can you see him?
· He checked and approved that there is narrowing in the upper jaw, and that he can fix that with an operation.
I said you are not touching him anymore, I will go to Canada.
· He said why pay too much, these are easy and are done here all the time.
I said I will do my best to try to prevent that outcome, if I cannot it will not be in their hands.
I handed him the report from Dr. Tafaz.
· Who is he?
I said he was manager of this hospital for 7 years.
· What did they tell you there?
I said operation, I checked for a second, third and fourth opinion, and more still, but they think braces can save us from the operation.
· Sure they will say that they are after your money!!!
I said a doctor at this hospital said that too.
What did Dr. Sivam tell you?
Nothing, he is done, the job is finished, never mentioned anything about class 3, operation or third stage of treatment. I handed a 2 pages complaint to Dr.Al Kaabi’s office about his lies. You have a problem with treating humans here. We were never told anything about the case, in Canada you expect any doctor to explain your case, how many options for treatment, what might go wrong, his part and yours in the treatment.
· He said because they are private clinics! Doctors are not paid much here!
I said they have a health care system, everybody is equal there. And we paid like private clinics!
(So we paid like private and got public treatment).
· How much did you pay!
(Five years of wasted time and trouble and a disastrous result and he asks how much we paid).
· There will be an appointment in 3 days, with me and an orthodontist consultant because I am a plastic surgeon, and Khairallah and Sivam, can you come with your son?
The last meeting I will bring my son to.
Can I have my x-rays!
11/6/2007
Miss Salam’s secretary called, to tell me that Salam tried to get us a meeting with Dr. al Hamadani and Dr. Khairallah but she failed. I told her we had already seen Dr. Mustafa, through Dr. Al Kaabi’s office, and he said that on Wednesday there will be a meeting attended by him, another orthodontist, and Sivam and Khairallah. That will only be for legal matters, as for the treatment for my son, it will be done in Canada or a private clinic.
13/6/2007
Appointment with Dr. Mustafa Al Khalil (only).
· The case was very well in 2005, the relapse started after that.
· The x-ray is his.
· The point of the report is that we were negligent. (The new report from Sivam is barely one page not 3).
· He started with class 3, in 2005 he was fine, now there is a relapse.
The x-ray is not for my son,
If it was why did Sivam watch the relapse silently for 2 years, without doing or mentioning anything about it?
Where is Sivam’s report of three pages, the one Salam brought to the appointment with Dr. Alhamadani. In it he said, there was a third stage but we refused to pay, and it said that we were leaving to continue the treatment out.
· There is nothing about stage 3 of treatment in this report.
Why did not he mention any warnings about the relapse?
Why did he terminate the treatment before it was finished?
Why did he not come to this meeting and Khairallah, and the orthodontist who was supposed to check the case and suggest a solution, as you told me 3days ago?
· Were you wearing your elastics?
I was but there was a time when there was no use, because even with 7 elastics there was no improvement and the hooks kept breaking.
The braces were wrong, the whole procedure was wrong. - We were waiting for one year for one tooth to move, we were not aware of any big problems. Had he warned us of a class 3, a relapse, or an operation, we would have looked for another consultation at least.
· What do you demand?
What we came here for four visits ago, to be seen by a consultant who can give us a professional opinion and solution.
· Are you going to a private clinic or want to be treated here? The treatment can be continued, there is still time to do something, but not guaranteed.
I will not trust this hospital again, but would want to know what you have to say or offer.
· Do you accept that Sivam continues the treatment?
My son No? No. No for sure and doctor Khairallah said how can you expect him to treat your son right, after you complained against him.
· He has a point.
Well does he have a doctor’s conscience?
I did complain about him officially in 2005 for extra charges, does that mean he revenged from my son?
Dr. Khairallah also said no one will accept to take a case after Sivam had worked on it for 5 years.
· Right that will create enmity, or tension between the doctors and prevent others from taking the case.
It seems he is a very influential doctor. He is powerful I heard, and no one knows where is his power coming from. I will not leave him or his power.
· Do you accept that another doctor sees him for consultation? They might not accept the case though, but there are five.
Yes, and let’s see what happens.
· I will write a report to the management, I will be fair.
· I suggest you compare this report with the one Salam brought to the meeting with Dr. Al Hamadani 10 days ago. And hope he did not change what is in the file by now. What if I bring a proof that the x-ray is not my son’s?
· That will be big, serious forgery.
Then the case will be closed, Sivam will be a liar all the way through. I will get the truth soon, I will take it to the police.
I did not hear from Rumailah Hospital since.
16/6/2007
Lawyer consultation.
· In this one, you have a case. One of the three cases.
· Bring me 2 detailed reports about the harm that has been done, and ask that they testify that the x-ray from 2005 is not your son’s. Hand the complaint again to Hamad Hospital, and get from them a receipt. Take the complaint to a legal translating firm, and come back to me.
Why not just go to the police, and nail him with forgery.
· I am the lawyer. That is how it works; you have to start a legal case.
What will I get?
· He will be brought to justice. He is sure I have a case.
· And you will get compensation. What kind of compensation for the mutilation of my son?
I could not get another report. And I did not go back to the lawyer. I was busy trying to find the best solution for trying to fix the crime done to my son.
